Discover Component Wine

« As a sommelier, I always wanted to know: what do the components
of these blends offer? What characteristics do they each add?
With component, we answer those questions. »

Component Wine Company is a boutique negociant winery in Napa Valley. Component sources barrels of the finest 100% varietal wines, that would normally be blended to create the most coveted Napa Valley wines, and bottles them individually, without blending, after sufficient barrel aging at their facility. The goal of Component is to allow collectors and wine lovers to see beyond the blend, highlighting the essence of the individual varietal. Component currently produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Semillon.

Michael Kennedy is an award-winning sommelier and winemaker, who was formerly the Head Sommelier for Cayman Cookout, Blue by Eric Ripert and the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. He got his start in the wine industry at an early age, working for a winery, then moved to become the sommelier for Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Washington DC, before moving on to the Cayman Islands. In 2016, Michael and his wife Rachel, yearning to get back into the winemaking side of the business, moved back to the US to start their winery in Napa Valley, Component Wine Company, a boutique negociant, producing 100% varietal wines that would otherwise have been blended into iconic Napa wines. Since founding the winery, he has been named Forbes 30 Under 30 and his winery has been featured in Forbes, Bloomberg, Business Insider, Food & Wine Magazine and Barron’s.

“The wines are pure, exuberant with varietal precision. I think these wines will open the minds of consumers to the classic Bordeaux grape varieties. With bottle age, these wines will gain complexity and reveal their nuances.”
– Rajat Parr, world-famous sommelier, winemaker and James Beard Award winner

“This wine [Cabernet Franc] is smooth, scented, and seamless.”
– Elin McCoy, Bloomberg & Decanter Wine Critic

Component Wine, because of its incredibly unique aroma and character, this wine needs to

SEMILLON

Winemaker Notes : A stunning white wine from Napa, with some of the most unique character I have ever seen from a white wine. It is fresh and floral with tropical and stone fruits, low and subdued alcohol content. Chill it liberally, and let it come to temperature in the glass, over a long period of time.
