Fattoria Ambra

Risultati immagini per fattoria ambra carmignanoFattoria Ambra is an historic winery in Carmignano, the smallest DOCG region in Tuscany and the second smallest in all of Italy. They started wine production in the late 80’s. The company is owned by the Romei Rigoli family and has 24 hectares of vineyards. The principal owner is Giuseppe “Beppe” Rigoli, a funny and very smart agronomist and oenologist, that has more than 30 years of experience in making quality wines. His philosophy is based on making wines that are strictly linked to the vineyards and the different soils of his property. By doing this, he wants to express the true soul of the Carmignano wine area. Carmignano is a beautiful place settled between Florence and Prato, protected by Mount Montalbialo and blessed with a lot of sunlight during the day. Is an old and important area in the Tuscan wine region, mentioned (since 1716) by Cosimo III de’Medici in his “Bando Granducale” naming the region one of the four best areas for making high quality red wines.

The entire production is about 40.000 bottles per year, with a production between 35 to 45 hectoliters per hectare.

Trebbiano 2019 Toscana IGT Bianco

A fresh and ready to drink blend of 90% of Trebbiano Toscano and 10% Vermentino. The wine takes the acidity from the Trebbiano and the minerality and fruity part from the Vermentino. A wine to enjoy by itself or with fish, aged or fresh cheeses, or chicken.

“Santa Cristina in Pilli” 2016 Carmignano DOCG

The Carmignano Santa Cristina in Pilli is a single vineyard wine from a beautiful hill at 150 meters above sea level with a lot of stones in the soil. The wine is the true expression of this particular Cru that expresses lavender, camphor and cherry notes, with hints of black pepper. In the mouth the wine has a nice freshness and it’s full of acidity and low in tannins. The aromas are elegant and deep with an orange juice and raspberry aftertaste.

“Montalbiolo” 2016 Carmignano Riserva DOCG

The Montalbiolo vineyard is the highest of the winery at 200 meters above sea level. This wonderful vineyard is located on one of the 4 hills of Carmignano with soils consisting of clay and galestro (a typical Tuscan soil of old sliver clay). This particular composition of the soil gives elegance and smoothness to this Carmignano Riserva. The flavor profile is cherry, cloves, and orange peel. The taste is lively and dynamic, with fresh red fruits and bit of silky tannins. The amazing aftertaste is balanced between oranges and toasted notes. This wine is excellent with braised and grilled meats, strong cheeses, and roasted vegetables.

The winery was awarded BIO certification beginning with the 2015 vintage.
